Day In The City 4

Day In The City 4 cover art
The Day in the City series was, to our knowledge, the inaugural modern day video comp. Conceived and produced by Urb-Orbis it is a format that has been copied by several sports over the years. The concept aim was to show both the skills of the skaters and the filmers without having the pressure or steer of funding partners, allowing all the competitors to experiment and show their full talent. The resulting films were put onto DVD (with the exception of DITC1 which was VHS) and cover mounted on UK title Sidewalk Surfer and then on Kingpin alongside the distribution of the project’s sponsors. To this day we believe it was the biggest distribution of a hard copy skate film in the UK at around 50,000.
