In 1985, the NSA Pro/Am season opener took place around Easter. Rodney Mullen, despite a hard fall during his last run, secured first place in the professional contest. The amateur contest, however, had shortened runs, lasting only 90 seconds instead of the usual 2 minutes, and was won by Greg Smith.
