Nancy Squad by the Snake Pit, along with Tongue Biters in 1993
were amongst the very first commercially distributed Street
Skating Feature Videos in Australia. The video also shows the
early 90s influence of street skating on Technical Vert Skating in
Melbourne.
From the late 80s until the early 90s, The Snake Pit was at the
center of skate media attention in Australia and was the team
many up-and-coming skaters aspired to be sponsored by. The
video also contains footage of The Famous Prahran Bowl – the
center of Australia’s skate scene at the time.
Nancy Squad was the second and final Snake Pit Video, before
some members of the team moved to the USA, shortly after the
release of the video. The Snake Pit sadly closed in the mid-90s.
Both Nancy Squad and Tongue Biters are very important in
Australian Skate History, as the videos laid the foundations for
future generations of skaters - pioneering the pathway for skate
video media in Australia.
