He began skating at age nine and later joined Powell Peralta’s Bones Brigade, starring in classic videos like "Future Primitive" and "The Search For Animal Chin". During his early days, McGill rode Tracker Trucks, appreciating their reliability on vert ramps, and also invented the McEgg. In the late 1980s, he opened a skatepark on the old Carlsbad site and launched McGill’s Skate Shop in Encinitas, CA, which he still runs today. He also created brands like 'Chapter 7' and 'Shaft' and worked as a stunt double in "Gleaming the Cube". A family man and active supporter of the skate community, McGill continues to skate, travel for demos, and contribute to skateboarding culture.
