"Tim and Henry's Pack of Lies", sometimes referred to as "Tim and Henry's Promotional Video", is a 1992 skateboarding video, primarily filmed and edited by Socrates Leal, that highlights the talents of Tim Gavin and Henry Sanchez. The video was initially intended as part of a full-length project but was released early as a promotional piece due to the abundance of footage from Gavin and Sanchez, especially after Gavin turned pro.
The video is marked by minimalist filming and a raw approach, capturing the essence of the era. Gavin and Sanchez are shown skating alongside Guy Mariano and Rudy Johnson, and Brian Lotti. Henry Sanchez’s part is especially notable, full of NBDs, and he chose the Black Sabbath song that accompanies his part.
Filming was done with a broken Blind camera, and there were some mishaps, including Leal’s fall during a shoot, which was humorously kept in the final edit. The video’s quirky nature extends to the choice to let the Black Sabbath track play through to the end, a result of the tape-to-tape editing process. "Pack of Lies" remains a cult classic in skateboarding video history.
