Tagline: An Exciting, feature-length adventure from Expo's Transworld Skateboard Championship. The TransWORLD Skateboarding Championships were held in 1986 at Expo 86 in Vancouver, the last World’s Fair in North America. The event was organized and sanctioned by the Canadian Pro-Am Skateboard Association (CPASA), which invited skateboard associations worldwide to send five-person amateur teams. Each team was required to include at least one female skater. In total, 22 teams from 17 countries competed, along with many of the top professional skateboarders of the time. The contest is widely regarded as the first World Skateboarding Championships. It reflected Expo 86’s theme, “World in Motion,” and featured multiple skateboarding disciplines, including vert, freestyle, slalom, bowl riding, and 360 events. Rodney Mullen won freestyle, Steve Caballero won bowl riding, and Tony Hawk won vert. With appearances by skaters such as Jeff Phillips and Claus Grabke, large crowds, and extensive footage, it became one of the largest and most important skateboarding contests ever filmed.
