Sammy Baptista began skateboarding young and was first sponsored by Powell Peralta at age 11. By 14, he joined Shorty’s Skateboards and appeared in their landmark video "Fulfill the Dream", which became his first major video part. Touring with skaters like Chad Muska and Brandon Turner, Baptista gained recognition for his skill and presence in numerous skate videos and magazines. Over time, Shorty’s dissolved, and Baptista moved on to other sponsors, including Turf, Ambiguous Clothing, DC, Venture, and Spitfire. Baptista became a mentor and coach, helping guide younger generations and using skateboarding to support youth-focused initiatives. Continuing to film and skate in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, he has stayed active in the scene, contributing footage for projects like the Turf video and maintaining his influence within the skateboarding community.
