Mark Appleyard is a Canadian-born professional skateboarder currently living in Huntington Beach, California. Raised in Oakville, Ontario by English parents, he started skating as a kid in cold Canadian winters, often shoveling snow just to carve out a few usable feet of pavement. Driven by passion, he moved to California as a teenager to chase his dream.
Appleyard’s career took off in the early 2000s when he joined Flip Skateboards. His breakout came with the now-legendary video 'Sorry', followed by standout parts in 'Really Sorry' and 'Extremely Sorry'. Known for elegant yet gnarly tricks, he became one of the era’s defining pros. Alongside Flip, Appleyard skated for Circa Footwear, where he connected with icons like Chad Muska, and later became a key rider for Element Skateboards. He also partnered with Globe to release the popular Mahalo and Mahalo Light shoes. In 2003, Appleyard was named 'Thrasher Magazine’s Skater of the Year', a high point in a career filled with iconic clips and cultural respect.
Now in his 40s, Mark balances life as a father and husband—he met his wife in Barcelona, a city that remains close to his heart. Though less focused on big-impact tricks today, he continues to film, skate, and inspire the next generation.
