Elissa Steamer, born July 31, 1975, in Fort Myers, Florida, is a pioneering force in skateboarding. She began skating in 1989, inspired by BMX culture, and quickly made a name for herself. In 1996, she joined Toy Machine and became the first woman to have a prominent role in a major skate video with her part in "Welcome to Hell" This groundbreaking moment helped launch her career, and in 1998, she became the first pro female street skater. Elissa’s standout video parts include "Jump Off a Building" (1998), "Baker 2G" (2000), and "Bootleg" (2003). She won four consecutive X Games gold medals between 2004 and 2008, cementing her place in skateboarding history. Elissa is also openly queer, coming out in 2020 and advocating for inclusivity in the skate community. Her impact on the sport, especially in inspiring women skateboarders, remains influential.
